MACRODAY-Best of 2006 All I can say after seeing the previous submissions is WOW! I am humbled to be in such excellent company and am anxious to get started on a new year with new challenges! (And boy, do I want to get close to some insects and spiders in 2007!) My lesson learned with these photo challenges is that taking time to explore creativity is KEY! Note: Another angle of this same fish was posted and featured for Macroday's "Fish" challenge: Here's the backstory: Sadly, our gardener inadvertently killed one of our fish, Arbus, I think it was, after spraying a rather hostile insecticide made by Ortho AGAINST my knowledge. Oh, and he torched my plants, too, and is still replacing the sick and dying. Poor guy, he'll never make that mistake again. Snapper addict that I am, I couldn't resist the opportunity to take pictures. But I called Martin first, to check-in on the scale of "sickness" in my task. He said I was a twisted and that he had to get back to work. Update: We have two new fish with rather ordinary names, Spot and Mike, with no lofty aspirations other than swimming and eating and eliminating. We also have a small mouse in our garden named "Scraps" because I give him leftovers from the kitchen, much to our gardener's dismay. He tells me we will soon have a family. I tell him I will deal with the little missus and her kids when we get to that point. For now, I like to think of him as one day dreaming of owning a scooter and a helmet and creating mayhem in my raised planting beds. I AM crazy, no? Oh, and the garden is looking lovely again thanks to his, my gardener Rosendo's (not Scrap's), hard work. |
